If any of you think that working at GameStop must be “so fun and easy”, you need to rethink it.
The reason I’m bitching about this is because I had someone tell me that my job is so easy and he can do it better than me. First off, this guy is a “security guard”. By that I mean he stands around for eight hours with a taser and tells people to shutup if they get too loud. Do you know what I do?
I fill out pawn slips every day, deal with dumbass customers who don’t understand anything and get pissed off at me, I’m on my feet all day restocking and organizing my store, clean the store, pull games, I constantly have to explain why people should reserve games and buy our reward card, and, oh yeah, I DEAL WITH DUMBASS CUSTOMERS.
Even if I get pissed off a lot, I love my job so much. That’s why I’m so irritated that this guy think this job is such a cakewalk and that any gamer can get it. Half of the employees in GameStops aren’t diehard gamers; THEY’RE SOCIABLE PEOPLE.
Do you really think we give a FUCK if you’ve played all the Final Fantasy games and know everything about the series? Because we don’t. We don’t care that you have every achievement on Gears Of War or that you’ve caught all 500+ Pokemon. We want you to be able to talk to the customers, have SOME gaming knowledge, and be SOCIABLE.
So I hope this guy goes into his interview, talking about how he’s such a hardcore gamer, not talk about anything else, and then wonder why he didn’t get the position. I don’t play HALF of the games that have been coming out, but at least I know about them and I can hold a conversation with our customers.
Got it memorized?
Is my usual reaction

Because people make it to be something bigger than what it is.
Another part of me is like
